Surface Preparation, Adhesive and Black Mastic Removal
Using grinding we can remove any type of old flooring, like epoxy removal, black mastic removal, vinyl tiles adhesive removal. Concrete grinding can level the slab below and at the same time create a perfect surface for a new floor.
Sometimes you need to remove old residues of adhesive after scraping an old vinyl floor. Without proper equipment, it can be a very time-consuming task to remove adhesive. But with our HTC’s concrete grinders and PCD diamond tools, it is quick and easy to remove adhesive or glue.
Concrete can vary in properties a great deal. Surface preparation is the process of preparing concrete surfaces for installation of coatings, overlays, stains or other finished flooring surfaces.
Floors must be effectively prepared, clean the concrete of any topical materials (adhesive, patch, etc). Create a necessary Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) acceptable for the new flooring product being installed.
The CSP is important to consider when trying to achieve proper bonding of concrete overlays and coatings. Generally, when using a thick overlay, the CSP needs to be higher. When using a coating that is slim, a smoother CSP of 2 to 4 is correct.
The appropriate CSP will range from 4 to 6 for thicker self-leveling and polymer overlays. The concrete grinder is highly effective adhesive remover and glue remover.
Methods of Surface Preparation (From least to most aggressive):
- Tiles Scraping
- Diamond Grinding
- Dustless Shotblasting
- Scarifying and Shaving
Dustless Shot blaster Contractors in New York
Shot blasting utilizes machinery which propels thousands of steel shot particles at the surface removing the top layer. All contaminants go back into the system to be recycled.
Shotblasting is often used to prep for self-leveling materials application, underlayment, and other cementitious surfaces. Shotblasting is a self-vacuuming system, leaving virtually no dust behind.
Shot blasting is best utilized to profile bare concrete.
DUOMIT offers in NYC: mechanical concrete floor grinding, surface preparation, remove the tile floor, thin set mortar, and epoxy resins removal.

Scarifier and Shaver
Scarifiers, also called surface planers or milling machines, remove concrete faster and more aggressively than grinders. It uses the pummeling action of multi-tipped cutting wheels or flails. That rotates at high speeds to chip away at the concrete surface.
Shaving concrete is a precise preparation method for removing an existing floor coating. Or to remove a thin layer of concrete. Shaving the concrete floor is a process to consistently remove material at a uniform depth from 1/32 inch to 1/4 inch.
DUOMIT provides industrial floors and commercial concrete grinding. Our scope of work – vinyl tile removal, remove the ceramic tile, concrete shot blasting services on your existing old slab. Concrete shot blasting utilized for the prep of concrete slabs prior to the installation of a surface coating. Request shot blasting services in New York and New Jersey.
Denatured alcohol is a degreasing agent that works best as a spot cleaner. For removing hard surface dirt and stains that traditional cleaning agents fail to remove. Stains from hard surfaces like wall tiles, wood, metal, and plastic.
Coating Removal for Every Surface
Coating and membrane removal quickly and effectively prepares base materials for receiving new base and finish coatings. Unlike other coating removal processes, diamond grinding removal selectively removes coatings such as paints, epoxy, and urethanes without damaging the surface.
